Our Rooms

We have three guest rooms named after our three grown-up children: Arnaud, our eldest son, and Louise and Julien, our twins.

Each room has a private bathroom with a shower, Marie-Stella-Maris luxury toiletries, a hairdryer, and a digital TV with english channels.

Rooms Arnaud and Julien have a double bed, room Louise has 2x single beds that can be placed together if desired.

Wi-Fi is offered free of charge in the rooms and the breakfast area.

Location and history

Zuienkerke has about 2,700 inhabitants. It is the "big brother" of the polder villages Meetkerke, Houtave and Nieuwmunster.

Zuienkerke is situated in the Uitkerkse polders and is a paradise for both walkers and cyclists. For the culture lover, the World Heritage City of Bruges (13 km) is nearby, the beautiful Lissewege and Damme are easy to reach by bicycle as well as the Belgian coast (10 km), more specifically De Haan, Wenduine but also Knokke.

This is the Flanders of our great-grandparents, where the clock ticks a little slower, with cosy pubs, the polders, nostalgic villages and delicious regional culinary products.

  • 1898: construction of the Zuienkerke convent, in neo-Gothic style & the village gril school by the Sisters of Kortemark.
  • 2017: converted into B&B "The Old Monastery House" with 3 guest rooms.
  • September 2021: we visited Zuienkerke and the Oud monastery house and immediately fall in love with the region and the house.
  • January 2022: we move from East to West Flanders and return to our "hotel roots". We renamed the B&B into B&B Otentik.

We both graduated in hotel management and started our hotel career in Brussels 5* hotels. In 1997, the two of us move to West Africa where Christophe works for Sabena Hotels and Le Méridien Hotels and I work for the then Sabena and the Belgian Embassy.

In 2002, we returned to Belgium no longer as a couple, but as a family of five, with our children Arnaud and the twins, Julien and Louise. We went back to work in various sectors, but the hotel business kept tickling our toes. On March 3, 2022, we finally realize our dream, the opening of Otentik Bed & Breakfast.

We look forward to welcoming you!
